10 Fun Things to Do Alone in New Jersey

1. Explore Hoboken

This charming town is located on the Hudson River and is full of great shops, restaurants, and bars. Spend the day walking around town, checking out the sights, and grabbing a bite to eat.

Hoboken is such a beautiful place and has so much to offer visitors. I definitely recommend spending at least a day exploring everything it has to offer.

2. Visit Cape May

This historic town is located at the southernmost tip of New Jersey and is known for its Victorian architecture. Stroll through the streets, admire the beautiful homes, and stop into one of the many shops or restaurants.

Cape May is such a unique place and definitely worth a visit. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to explore everything it has to offer.

3. Visit Princeton University

Take a self-guided tour of this prestigious university and admire the stunning campus. Be sure to stop in the main library, which is one of the largest in the world.

Princeton University is definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re a fan of architecture or history. Allow yourself plenty of time to explore the campus and all it has to offer.

4. Spend a day at the Jersey Shore

New Jersey is home to some of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast. Soak up the sun, build sandcastles, and take a dip in the ocean.

The Jersey Shore is one of my favorite places to go in New Jersey. It’s such a beautiful place and there’s so much to do. Be sure to pack your sunscreen!

5. Go apple picking

Fall is the perfect time to go apple picking at one of New Jersey’s many farms. After you’ve picked your apples, stop into a local bakery for an apple pie or some other fall treat.

Apple picking is one of my favorite things to do in the fall. New Jersey has so many great farms to choose from. Be sure to call ahead to find out when they’re open for business.

6. Visit the Liberty Science Center

This interactive museum is perfect for solo visitors. Spend a day learning about science and exploring all the exhibits.

The Liberty Science Center is one of the best museums in New Jersey. It’s perfect for solo visitors because it’s so interactive and there’s so much to see and do.

7. Hike through Hartshorne Woods Park

This park is located in Monmouth County and offers miles of hiking trails. Spend a day exploring the woods and admiring the views.

Hartshorne Woods Park is one of my favorite places to go hiking in New Jersey. The trails are well-marked and there’s so much to see. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water.

8. Visit the Grounds for Sculpture

This 42-acre sculpture park is located in Hamilton, NJ, and is home to over 270 sculptures. Spend a day walking around the park and admiring the artwork.

The Grounds for Sculpture is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. It’s perfect for a solo day trip because you can take your time walking around and admiring the sculptures.

9. Visit the Thomas Edison National Historical Park

This park is located in West Orange, NJ, and is dedicated to the life and work of Thomas Edison. Spend a day exploring the museum and learning about Edison’s many inventions.

The Thomas Edison National Historical Park is a great place to learn about one of America’s most famous inventors. The museum is very informative and there’s so much to see. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to explore everything it has to offer.

10. Visit the Newark Museum

This museum is located in Newark, NJ, and is home to over 80 galleries. Spend a day walking around the museum and admiring the artwork.

The Newark Museum is one of my favorite museums in New Jersey. It’s so big and there’s so much to see. You can easily spend a whole day walking around and admiring the artwork. Be sure to check out the museum’s website for information on current exhibitions.
